World's Cutest Baby Boy Ever

Yesterday the sun was out and it was beautiful outside so of course we had to spend some time hanging out in the grass!

And Ethan was looking particularly cute with those big blue eyes and chubby little boy cheeks.

And those adorable baby hands! Can you blame him for thinking they look good enough to eat?

I figured since the grass was dry for once it was an excellent opportunity for Ethan to get acquainted with the green stuff.

And while I was enjoying watching his reactions to the grass tickling his nose I looked back and saw those cute little baby legs and couldn't resist getting a picture of those too!

Meet the Parry Family: David

Today we're going to meet the head of the Parry Family Mr. David Parry. I think he's pretty amazing but then again, I'm the one that married him! Here's some fun David facts I've gleaned from the past nine (!) years:

  • His middle name is Rein which is in honor of his Opa
  • His favorite pizza flavor is Canadian Bacon and Pineapple
  • He likes to sleep with the open side of his pillow case facing inwards which I think is weird
  • We have similar foot sizes and can share some shoes
  • His favorite movie of all time is The Godfather
  • He's a leftie
  • His favorite dessert is ice cream
  • He owns and has currently set up to play: The Original Nintendo, Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64, Nintendo Gamecube, Nintendo Wii, Sony Playstation, Sony Playstation II, Xbox, Xbox 360, and seems to think he's buying a Sony Playstation III in June...
  • His favorite video game series is Megaman
  • He's an Eagle Scout
  • His favorite hockey team is the Detroit Redwings
  • He's currently reading Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett
  • He hates it when newlyweds shove cake in each other's mouths at the reception and told me if I did that I'd be in deep doo doo
  • His favorite Burgerville milkshake is Marionberry followed by Chocolate Hazelnut
  • He totally spoils me at times which I love!
  • He only buys cargo shorts with real buttons on the pockets and hates the ones with velcro

I think I'm addicted to Photoshop Part 2

I really can't express my love of Photoshop in words so I'll just let these two pictures do the talking.

Meet the Parry Family: Kellie

More Peas Please

After Grace's infamous Pea Video where I caught on video her first reaction to peas I was all set for Ethan's first taste of the green stuff. I had David feed him while I stood ready with the camera, ready to capture the hilarious faces I was sure would follow. To my surprise the little guy ate his pureed peas with nary a funny face or grimace. He just calmly ate them and opened up his mouth for more! I hope this means he likes vegetables and will never refuse to eat "yucky green things" like a certain little girl I know. Of course I'm not holding my breath!

Grace went to school yesterday!

Yesterday I took Grace to the Early Childhood Development Fair at the elementary school near our house. As we walked the school halls to the registration table she was prancing on her toes she was so excited and asked me if there were any books here. Grace got to pick out a brand new toothbrush (she chose purple) and color a picture of a dinosaur (pink and purple of course) as we toured the different booths in the gym. Then we stopped by the Health Clinic where they weighed and measured her and pronounced her small. That much I knew! She surprised me by weighing in at over 25lbs and was 34.5" tall and is in the 25th percentile for height and 10th for weight. After the health check we stopped by the speech screening room where she named things in pictures as the screeners listened to her pronunciation of the words. They said she was doing very well and met all the benchmarks for her age and even met a few of the 5 year old benchmarks!

The main stop of the tour was the developmental screening which took about 30 minutes. The lady had two pages front and back filled with questions/tasks for Grace to determine how she measured up to other 33 month old children. They had Grace kick a ball, jump, follow simple directions, try to copy drawing a straight line and circle, use scissors, repeat words, thread beads on a shoestring, and all sorts of other things. The result was that Grace is doing well in all areas except for fine motor skills which really surprised me. I've never thought that was an issue, and I think the reason she failed that part of the test is that she couldn't use the scissors or draw straight lines or circles. She did thread the bead just fine though. I'm not that worried about her failing that part of the test since we haven't really worked on those things. We'll be working on them now though, and they'll be calling me in October to see if she needs to be re-tested.

Our last stop was to the hearing test area which went surprisingly well. Grace let them put the headphones on her head and she could point to which ear she heard the beeps. She passed with flying colors! We skipped the vision test since we just saw the eye doctor last month and we needed to get going in order to get to Corvallis in time for lunch.

We had lunch with David at his new building and Grace proclaimed that "This is a good day!"

Practice Makes Perfect

Ethan *loves* to hold on to my fingers to pull himself up to standing and could happily stand all day. To save myself from being his personal standing assistant I have shown him the joys of holding onto the furniture while standing. He's still pretty wobbly and does more leaning then actual holding, but he's getting the idea. For his part he thinks he's doing it all by himself and grins his "I'm such a Big Boy!" grin.
